So here’s what I’ve been up to:

August 9, 2009 at 6:59 pm (Uncategorized)

I’ve mostly been playing with beads lately. Here’s the picture from an article from issue 92 of Bead and Button magazine:

then came Beadwork Magazine Aug/Sept 09:

Then came two large forms of temptation at work:

The Beaded Sphere by Judy Walker
I’ve managed to play with some Diane Fitzgerald designs so far, and plan on spending lots of time with both books for the forseeable future. I love playing with delicas!!!!
Here are the photos of my Open Oval and my Celtic Trefoil:

I love trefoils- eventually I want to have a trefoil tattoo. I plan to turn this one into a pendant, hanging the other way up to the picture.
I think that just about covers what I have been up to in the last couple of weeks, lots more to come I hope!!
Take care

So, this week I have mostly been turning this:

dryad beads

into this:

¬†and I have to say I’m quite proud of myself. For anyone who knows me, I’m fairly sure you’ll agree that the colours are a bit of a departure for me. It’s only fair to tell you that I didn’t pick the colours myself. It’s for work- if I’d have picked the colours no doubt it would have been in shades of teal/blue/turquoise. There’s a thought! Maybe I’ll do myself a version (this one isn’t mine to keep ūüė¶ ) in duller colours, although I have lots of left over beads so I might do something in similar colours. Hmmm…………

Anyway, the blanket is no further on than last time, but I guess I’ll get round to that again soon. I’m a real harlot when it comes to crafting- I get bored and have to switch to keep things interesting. When¬†I have to do something, chances are I won’t want to do it. So i have lots of WIPs to contend with. My new years resolution this year was to finish 5 things and so far I have managed 2. Which is pretty good going, halfway through the year, almost halfway through the resolution! I’m hoping to pick up a new craft with my friend GingerSquirrel next week- we’re doing Dorset Buttons which shopuld be interesting!

I’ll keep you posted! I’m off to play with something crafty so have a lovely evening all,

My dear friend, The Ginger Squirrel (gingersquirrel.typepad.com) has informed me that my blog must have pictures. So here are a few pictures of my current Work-in-Progress. It’s a pattern from the Natural Dye Studio (http://www.thenaturaldyestudio.com/) called Bessies Triangles Blanket. It’s a really nice pattern! I’m hoping to turn this:

lots of yummy yarn!

lots of yummy yarn!

into some (136 to be exact) of these:

13 down, 123 to go!

¬†It’s not hugely difficult, it’s mostly about finding time to sit and do them without feeling guilty. So I think that may be what I’m off to do now!

Enjoy yourself, I know I will!

glad to be home

June 3, 2009 at 11:35 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

So, I’ve just spent the last 36 hours with ‘The WI’. Not a problem in itself, as I’m a WI member and generally love meeting and spending time with¬†other members. Unfortunately, the members I have been surrounded by have insisted on giving me a running commentary on where we are, what road signs say (I have had a window seat and am perfectly capable of reading for myself), when they need the loo, what happened when they went to the loo. I have also had a run down on a wide variety of personal problems including a funny rash “down there”, the infidelities of a son in law, second marriages, rude text messages from grandsons(!)¬† and other inanities that i¬†one day hope to inflict on children and grandchildren of my own! Until then¬†I guess¬†I’ll just have to grin and bear it.¬†Oh the joys of being a young member- youngest by a good 25/30 years in most cases.

On a more positive note, the speakers at the 94th WI AGM (the reason for the coach trips and overnight stay in the middle of nowhere) were all excellent. We had Dr Low OBE of the Charities Aid Foundation (informative), Maureen Lipman (hilarious yet mildly political), Jonathan Wild of Taylors of Harrogate and Bettys (charming and witty), Eve Pollard (slightly confusing but very empowering) and finally Richard Stillgoe and some Orpheus Centre Apprentices (absolutely amazing- funny, moving and ultimately uplifting)- if you have any money to spare go to this website http://orpheus.org.uk/ and give, give, give.

Right, off to bed (hopefully without too many recurring images of “down there”)

June 1, 2009 at 9:04 pm (Uncategorized)

So, I’ve finally done it. Taken the plunge. Bitten the bullet so to speak.

My friends have trying to get me to blog for longer than I care to remember but I’m not sure how interesting it will be! Lets give it a bash, you and I and see how we get along shall we?
